Background includes a 2001 Maxima with about 181,000 miles. Check engine light came on. I got rid of it with Textron fuel injector cleaner and Shell gasoline a couple of time. The CEL came back on and would not go away. I went to Autozone and Advanced Auto for the free scan indicating code P430 (system below threshold bank 2). I was told this code most likely indicated the rear catalytic converter was failing. I confirmed this with some internet research. Price check for the repair was $700 to $900 for a direct fit cat. Pour this stuff in on a Saturday, and light was off within 50 miles of driving. I got the car inspected after driving about 300 miles on the following Tuesday. NH inspection is based on a scanner connected to the car's computer. The inspection does not check actual emmissions. My car passed the computer emissions test. My advice is try this stuff if you have the following codes from the CEL (P420/P430). Autozone and Advanced Auto will perform a free scan for your CEL and provide a print out if you ask. It cleared my CEL and my car passed inspection for the computer emissions test. It will not fix ball joints, unfortunately.
